My English Progress from 2008 to 2010

I could see some differences between the first and the last compositions, probably its development has influenced by difficulty of the second course because it obligates me to study more and be more interesting in the subject. I think I’ve improved a lot in all the fields. So my pronunciation, the structure is better because now there are an introduction, development and ending, the content is more interesting than it was on last year and my vocabulary is larger, there are: conditionals like “if it doesn’t work the people can’t travel”, modals like “could” and “would”, verbs in future like “wish” and “hope”.

About my oral presentations I think I've improved so much because the first one I've done was so poor, I was nervous too and first sight is bad, horribly bad. But the other one is better because the structure was maked by our three, there's more hard-working than the first one and the content is good. Also the pronunciation and the vocabulary has got more cultured words.

About the compositions I've improved my extension, now they're longer than the first ones, the verbs aren't as repetitive as they were and there are so adjectives, adverbs. In general, now I write thousand times better than the first term of the first course.

Mind - Body therapies

Nowadays society use medical treatments since they were born because the science was developing a long nineteen century until now. But there are few different therapies which don't use chemistry substances.

In my opinion we should try this therapies, they are safe and if you think it doesn't work, you could give up and continue with you regularly life.

Secondly scientist are researching how they works but there are plenty of therapies which are ancient and wild people used to do if for many centuries. It means they aren't new maked and the process of each one are changed and studied for a long time.

In conclusion I could say the mind-body therapies are so safe, too studied for centuries and if you don't like it you won't continue, it doesn't make you a problem. So I think it's good try it and investigate if it works.

Opinion Essay

I've chosen this couple of composition which are the best for me.
The first one is an oral presentation about the diference of Family Guy and The Simpsons because they're maked by the same man. I've chosen it because is the best structurate work I've never done and the matter is interesting for the people who watch this series, like me that's why I've done it better than the others. Also I've chosen the best writed writting, it talks about the influence of the television in our lifes and I'm sure it has got the best quality of all my compositions because its vocabulary and structure. I tried to put some phrasal verb and some new words I've learned.

Volcanic ash cloud shuts Spanish airports

, 2 comentaris

Spain has closed 15 airports as a cloud of ash from an Icelandic volcano drifts south over Western Europe.

National airport management agency Aena said nine airports closed early on Saturday and six more shut from 1200 local time (1000 GMT).

The restrictions would be in place until at least 1800, Aena said

Most flights between Europe and North America are being diverted because of the ash cloud's latest drifting, officials at Eurocontrol said.

Flights are being rerouted north and south of the 1,200 mile (2,000km) long cloud.

On average, 600 airliners make the Atlantic crossing every day, correspondents say.

Aena said the airports affected were Bilbao, San Sebastian, Vitoria, Zaragoza, Pamplona, La Rioja, Santiago, La Coruna, Vigo, Asturias, Santander, Leon, Valladolid, Burgos and Salamanca.

Eurocontrol, the agency that co-ordinates aviation safety in Europe, said airports were also expected to close in northern Portugal and parts of southern France.

In the UK, some flights to Spain were being affected.

The volcano has become more active in recent days
At London Stansted, 22 Ryanair flights to the Canary Islands, mainland Spain and Portugal were cancelled, along with three EasyJet flights.

Flights from Gatwick to Portugal, Alicante and Madrid were cancelled and at Heathrow some flights to La Coruna in northern Spain were also grounded.

Last month, thousands of travellers were stranded after ash shut down airspace across Europe.

Recent images have shown activity in the Eyjafjallajokull volcano intensifying.

Experts at the UK's Met Office said it was sending ash up to heights of 30,000 ft (9,100m).

Flights across Ireland and parts of the UK were disrupted earlier this week.

It talks about a new volcanic eruption which extracts ash cloud and because of it there are 15 airports in Spain closed. It's important
because plenty of people buy tickets every day to travel arround the world for work, holidays or to visit someone of their family or friends. So if it doesn't work the people can't travel and their money is losed. That's a problem because there could be manifestations about it and probably it would give severe consequences.
It affects me because I'm worried about our travel to Sevilla in June, I wish it doesn't affect us and if it not, we won't do this trip. I hope the ash cloud won't be a problem to travel by plane.

A public toilet in Northumberland has become the latest site for an arts project highlighting the county's wildlife.

The exterior of the lavatory in the coastal village of Seahouses, has been revamped with huge images of seabirds.

The artwork has been created by visual artist Stuart Mugridge who is currently Seahouses' appointed visiting artist.

Two 8ft (2.4m) tall images of an eider duck and yellowhammer will welcome visitors for the next five months.

The project has been developed by Inspire Northumberland and the Seahouses Development Trust with support from the Rural Development Programme for England.

The Northumberland coast is recognised as a haven for wild birds, many of which flock to the nearby Farne island.

The featured birds were chosen for a specific reason with the the eider duck symbolising the sea and the yellowhammer representing the land.

Mr Mugridge, 38, said: "Seahouses is an interesting place to work and visit that has evolved down the years, with its contrast of heritage, wildlife and working harbour.

"I hope my work generates a genuine public response and will get people to stop and think about their personal surroundings."

It talks about a toilet which is painted a duck who belongs in county's wildlife. The painter called Stuart Mugridge was thinking in teach the people to respect surroundings because there is a huge wetland where the birds live and reproduce there.
It affects me because I know how is live near a wetland, I've been in it and I hate the people who don't look up the nature even if they live away from it. And of course it affects to all of us too because if we kill species, the nature will be affected and we too while we're living as good as posible.

New Seekers to deter litterbugs at Scunthorpe college

The New Seekers featured in a Keep Britain Tidy campaign in the 1970s
A New Seekers song from the 1970s will be played to college students if they are caught dropping litter.

Students at John Leggott College in Scunthorpe are being warned they will have to endure We've Got To Do It Now being played through loud speakers.

The 1973 song was used in a Keep Britain Tidy television campaign featuring the band.

Posters featuring the plight of animals which are harmed by litter will also be displayed at the site.

North Lincolnshire Council is launching the scheme at the college on West Common Lane in Scunthorpe on Tuesday.

In a statement the council said students would have to "endure listening to The New Seekers" every time they drop litter.

The council's deputy leader, Len Foster, said: "Litter is a growing problem everywhere and we are doing all we can to try and educate people locally and encourage them to change their bad habits.

"It is unacceptable behaviour and is pure laziness. There are bins available so there's no excuse.

"We want to see more people doing the right thing by putting their rubbish in the bin where it belongs."

It talks about a punishment which consists in listening music of a 70's pop band called The New Seekers. If any student of John Leggott College trows litter to the floor, he or she will listen the band as a punishment because there are so bins to trow it but they have got a laziness behaviour.
It's important because there are too people who contaminate the environment and we should do strongly things to stop it. It affects me and everyone because all of us breath, drink water and live in the earth. Now all is ok but the next years will be dramatic situations and lots of people will life a worst spell than nowadays. That's because of it affects the people around me and everybody.
